Food for thought...
One bite of a fresh baked Dino's creation sends
the taste buds reeling. Once the brain recovers from such a wonderful
shock to the senses, it is set free to wonder. How did this all
begin?
Call it fate that spurred founder Dino Dominici
to immigrate from Italy to America at the age of 17. It seems irony
had a hand in leading both Dino and Grace (also an Italian immigrant),
thousands of miles across the Atlantic to meet and eventually wed in
Kenosha, Wisconsin. Perhaps fate and irony were spurred on by the
call of hungry stomachs everywhere... We may never know. One thing is
for certain though - There's no questioning the legacy of fine fresh
Italian food that he brought with him!
Good things come to those who wait...
The 1950's weren't a comfortable time in the
economy. Given the choice between factory work and entrepreneurship,
Dino decided to pave his own road. Shortly after his marriage to
Grace, he launched his first enterprise - a gas station. After a few
years, looking to expand his horizons, Dino became interested in
opening a bicycle shop. Fortunately for purveyors of fine Italian
food everywhere (especially Racine), before Dino's Bicycles became a
reality, Dino was approached by the local business community of the
south side of Racine. These wonderful people pointed to the apparent
need for an eatery in the area. With the understanding that "if you
build it, we will eat there", Dino's Italian Village was born.
Lasting Quality...
Half a century later, after many expansions,
renovations, and awards, (recently voted Racine County's best all
around Restaurant) Dino's Italian Village still sits on the same
corner as it did all those years ago. If anything, the richness in
taste and heritage of the food has improved. Some things, apparently,
are simply meant to last.
Another Generation...
Yet another example of the road to perfection
not always being the most direct path - After graduation from
Marquette University, Peter A. Dominici, Dino's son, spent 10 years in
the electronic manufacturing industry. As diligent as his father,
Peter entered as a sales person and left as Director of Sales &
Marketing (not to mention part owner).
After he selling his interest in 1993, Peter
rejoined his father in the restaurant bringing with him a new
generation's perspective on ingenuity. Though you can't improve on
perfection, you can increase it's marketing base. Two
years later, Peter created Classics by Dino's Inc., merging the
quality freshness and taste of Dino's fine Italian food with modern
day convenience. Thanks to Peter, people nationwide can now enjoy
Dino's Fresh Frozen Italian Food. |
